The Duo L’Originale e la Copia was born out of a commitment to offer classical music concerts in innovative ways that make their contents usable to any audience, thanks to a well-calibrated succession of performing moments and introductory narratives, informal but accurate, that historically and aesthetically contextualize the repertoire performed and arouse curiosity and interest around the Authors, to take flight “on the wings of song,” whether realized by the voice or the piano, to which solo moments are also entrusted.
Külli Tomingas is Estonian by birth, Italian by love, a citizen of the world because she is a true artist. She has studied with Tiina Palmer, Urve Tauts, Adelisa Tabiadon and Bianca Maria Casoni, specializing in masterclasses with Matti Pelo, Claudio Desderi, Katia Ricciarelli, Luciana Serra, Enzo Dara and Leyla Gencer. She has distinguished herself in various international competitions: (Titta Ruffo, Ismaele Voltolini, CLOS-Operastudio, Riccardo Zandonai, Voice Master of Monte Carlo). She has held primary roles in Operas by Purcell , Mozart, Rossini, Verdi, Mascagni, Puccini, Strauss, Britten, Maderna in important Italian Theaters, collaborating with conductors such as Rolf Gupta, Andrus Kallastu, Matteo Beltrami, Andrea Raffanini, Tiziano Severini, Michelangelo Mazza and directors such as Rein Laos, Elmo Nüganen, Ülo Vilimaa, Damiano Michieletto, Andrea De Rosa, Denis Krief. Mario Migliara. He has performed an extensive chamber repertoire with pianist Luca Schieppati, with whom he has formed the Duo L’Originale e la Copia for many years.
Luca Schieppati – concert pianist, teacher and organizer of musical events – is an omnivorous and polymorphous musician, intolerant of predefined roles and patterns. As a pianist, he has performed a vast solo and chamber repertoire, with a focus on rarely performed composers and pieces, including on ancient instruments, often collaborating with singers of all forms and ages as he is attracted to them by love and envy, both ill-concealed. A winner of a competition for titles and examinations, he has been teaching in state conservatories for more than 30 years, placing the sharing of skills among different generations and the free development of each young artist’s personality at the basis of his teaching. He currently holds a professorship at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan.
