Travels Duo was born out of the meeting between Simone Locarni, one of Europe’s top jazz talents, recent winner of the European Young Artists’ Award at 53. Internationale Jazzwoche in Burghausen and the Spoleto Europe Jazz Award as Best European Jazz Talent, and Paolo Pasqualin, an internationally renowned percussionist whose name is known both in the classical world (Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala, Orchestra RAI, Virtuosi Italiani) and in the jazz world (Gary Burton, Steve Gadd, Chick Corea and many others).
The affinities between the two musicians are many, starting from their shared origins-both from Verbano-Cusio-Ossola-to a shared eclecticism that sees them active in many different circles of the music scene. It is precisely around their multiple acquaintances that the heart of the project lies, which is in fact articulated along three main lines, namely contemporary jazz, ethnic music and classical music. Such stylistic and expressive variety is made possible by a strong communion and solid interplay between the two musicians, who together take the listener through musical worlds that are only seemingly distant, but which can be embraced in the course of the great journey (travel, in fact) that is the concert moment.
