Aho Ssan is the stage name of Paris-based Niamké Désiré. After studying graphic design and filmmaking, he began composing electronic music and creating his own digital instruments. Shortly thereafter, he won the Francetelevision Foundation award for his soundtrack to Ingha Mago’s film in 2015, and has worked on several IRCAM/GRM-related projects in France. His debut LP “Simulacrum,” which premiered at Berlin Atonal 2019, was released on February 7, 2020 via Subtext Recordings. His work has been presented at various institutions in Europe and the United States, including Lincoln Center (New York), La Maison de la Radio (Paris), CTM (Berlin), MACBA (Barcelona), Muziekgebouw (Amsterdam) and Krakow Philharmonic (Krakow). In 2022, he released the album “Limen” in collaboration with artist KMRU, and took part in the artist platform SHAPE+. His music has been acclaimed by various media such as NPR, Pitchfork, ResidentAdvisor, Liberation, and Les Inrockup-tibles.
In 2023 Aho SSan released his new solo album “Rhizomes” on Nicolas Jaar’s Other People label.
