Nappy Nina is an Oakland-raised, Brooklyn-based rapper and writer whose work moves across hip-hop, jazz, poetry and experimentation. On Sow & So, her new album created with producer Swarvy and released through Lucid Haus, the label she co-founded, West Coast traditions open onto hazy, off-kilter forms: pitched-up voices, slowed rhythms and jazz-inflected beats. Within this shifting landscape, Nina’s intimate, political writing explores lineage, survival and creative freedom while refusing the boundaries of genre.
