RIFUGIO MADONNA DELLA NEVE (Rosazza)
Compositions by Federica Cerizza
Performed by:
Federica Cerizza, piano
Federica Cerizza is an Italian pianist and composer who graduated with honors from the Conservatorio G. Cantelli in Novara with Alessandro Commellato. Specializing in the 20th-century repertoire, she has performed at important venues such as the Museo del Novecento in Milan and collaborated with institutions such as Fazioli and LaVerdi. Passionate about jazz, she studied with Marco Detto, performing at festivals such as Jazzmi and releasing her first album “Casa” in 2022. Released on the Filibusta Records record label, the album was awarded at the Forum Live Jazz and Petrichor International Music Competition for improvisation.
The album’s title track won first prize overall at the Petrichor International Music Competition in the improvisation category and third prize at the Forum Live Jazz competition. The idea of the project revolves around the concept of Home, considered first and foremost a physical place in which to feel good that also becomes an inner space where one can find one’s humanity, warmth and that familiarity that seems to be disintegrating in a society increasingly prone to loneliness and sadness. The artist’s spiritual need translates into practice because Federica has literally opened the doors of her home to a permanent
season of concerts, the “Concerts in Canepa.” Here people meet physically and
artists are in close contact with their audiences in a complete listening atmosphere.
The six tracks that make up the album, namely Home, From the Earth to the Moon, Shades, Voices
of River (piano and voice), The Little Girl in the Bubble and Impro develop from this
starting point and each one tells a story, a mood, a vision through the notes of a piano that never loses sight of its narrative idea.
During the concert, artwork by artist Laura
Cignacco, 3d canvases made of paper and various painting materials created specifically for each
of the album tracks, will be arranged around the piano.
