Territories transform together with those who move through them: they respond to different relational intensities and to the forms of coexistence that emerge from them. A gesture of staying — rootedness, a conscious way of inhabiting — arises from the ability to perceive and live with these shifts in intensity, and from the interdependence between what already exists and what arrives. Even the smallest, almost imperceptible gesture can alter our perception of a place, its flavour, and our relationship with it. Minestra Selvatica, by Malomodo Studio, seeks to bring this process to light through a blending of words and ingredients, which together create a convivial moment that speaks of territory, perception, and ways of inhabiting.

Malomodo Studio is a transdisciplinary collective exploring the reciprocal relationship between body and environment. It was founded in 2015 by Francesca Melina and Gioele Bertin and expanded in 2025 with the addition of Elisabetta Magistri. Drawing on field research conducted in urban and rural contexts, we develop artistic processes in which theory and practice converge through culinary exploration, ephemeral artistic and architectural installations, performances, participatory workshops, mapping, publications, and site-responsive interventions, all within a horizontal structure. Our practice is rooted in context: each situation generates situated forms of knowledge, communities of practice, and alliances between artistic practitioners and local organisations. These relationships nurture open-ended processes in which experimentation and error are not deviations, but generative opportunities that guide the research in unexpected directions.
