Iztok Koren, Samo Kutin, and Ana Kravanj (Širom) craft an “imaginary folk,” a sonic landscape in perpetual motion that weaves diverse influences into a universal synthesis. The trio’s practice is rooted in a vast instrumental exploration, intertwining global traditional elements — such as viola, hurdy-gurdy, balafon, banjo, and woodwinds — with custom, self-built objects. Despite this rich textural variety, their sound maintains a minimalist, shamanic quality. Navigating a constant dialectic between darkness and light, mystery and revelation, the three musicians transform live performance into a ritualistic, magnetic, and deeply immersive experience.
