Considered by radio station Classic FM as one of the top 30 musicians under 30 for the year 2024, Simone El Oufir Pierini performs versatilely on both harpsichord and fortepiano. His discography, for the Brilliant Classics and Da Vinci Classics labels, includes works by composers such as H. de Montgeroult, F. Mendelssohn, J. B. Cramer, and L. Cherubini on fortepiano, as well as the complete works for harpsichord and organ by A. Tinazzoli, and his recordings have been broadcast on radio stations such as Rai Radio 3, Radio Classica, Ö1 (Austrian National Radio), Vatican Radio, SRF 2 Kultur (Switzerland), and IMER (Mexico).
Simone Pierini regularly performs in public as harpsichord soloist and continuist, for institutions, orchestras and ensembles such as Associazione Musicale Karl Jenkins, Roma Festival Barocco, Roma Sinfonietta, Associazione Musicale Muzio Clementi, Contrasto Armonico, Musica Antiqua Latina, Orchestra Barocca dei Conservatori Italiani, Progetto Syntagma, Reate Festival: at the latter he presented the complete performance of J. S. Bach, concerting and conducting an ensemble of students from the L’Aquila Conservatory.
Born in Rome in 1996, Simone El Oufir Pierini took up the study of piano at the age of eight. At the age of eighteen, he graduated in Pianoforte from the “Santa Cecilia” Conservatory of Music in Rome with highest honors, cum laude and honorable mention. He subsequently embarked on the study of historically informed piano praxis, taking part in courses and master classes held by A. Lubimov, A. Staier, G. Bonino, T. Koch, S. Fiuzzi, performing publicly as a solo fortepianist and in chamber ensembles. He received his master’s degree in Musicology in 2022 with highest honors from the University of Rome “La Sapienza,” with a thesis on the transition between harpsichord and fortepiano in coeval literature. He finally deepened his study of the harpsichord with A. Coen, G. Togni, E. Baiano, taking part in masterclasses with A. Buccarella, D. Pozzi. Also active in contemporary music, he performed compositions written especially for fortepiano by Riccardo Perugini (1996*). He is a member of the ensemble Cappella Musicale Enrico Stuart, with which he performs as a continuist on harpsichord and organ. In 2021 he was a finalist and winner of special mention for the Early Music category of the XV National Arts Prize, organized by MIUR. He has performed publicly, in addition to Italy, in the UK, Germany, China, Canada, and Poland.
